Salve will last up to one year after purchase unless it is kept in the fridge, then it will last much longer (years). Plantain is known to speed healing. In colonial times the native Americans would put Plantain leaves on their wounds to inhibit the growth of bacteria. Jewelweed is Nature’s answer to neutralize poison ivy, poison oak and poison sumac.
Jewelweed is know to neutralize the oil in the poison ivy plant, as well as poison oak, sumac, and even takes the sting and itchiness out of bug bites.
The Jewelweed (impatiens capensis) provides several well-documented health benefits. It has anti-itch properties, and is an effective cure for poison ivy, stings, and cuts and scrapes.
This plant also offers anti-fungal properties, and acts as a natural cure for athlete's foot and other fungal infections.
Plantain leaves are thought to have antiseptic, antibacterial, and antimicrobial properties.
Insect stings, snake bites, and minor cuts or scrapes are believed to heal more quickly when these leaves are applied to the site of the injury. Fungal infections such as ringworm and skin disorders such as eczema are often treated with this herbal remedy.

HOW I MADE THIS SALVE:
We make this by drying the plantain and incorporating it with the fresh wilted Jewelweed. Jewelweed cannot be completely dried and retain it's qualities or benefits. Therefore, after I pick the Jewelweed and we have a grove of it on our property! We rinse it then dry the crushed plants in the sun to dry out some moisture. The idea is not to get any water in the mix. So then we put the Olive oil, Jewelweed and the dried Plantain in the crock pot on warm, a very low heat for four-five hours. This creates an infusion of the Jewelweed and Plantain in the olive oil.
Then I let it cool, strain it in cheese cloth. Then I have the infused oil to combine with the beeswax, Tea Tree Essential Oil and Vitamin E.

WASH HANDS BEFORE USE, IF POSSIBLE AND KEEP IN THE FRIDGE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE AS IT WILL KEEP LONGER.
